Our program is more than just an opportunity to explore academic inquiry, it's a space for building meaningful community and collaborative growth. REU students work within our Summer of CS Program so that they can be in a community of like-minded scholars.
Throughout the summer, participants are supported not only through one-on-one faculty guidance but also through a series of workshops we call "CS Chats," which are designed to strengthen research skills, professional development, and interdisciplinary thinking. We also have college-wide events and socials for REU participants to attend.Â
The 2025 REU Program will run from May 26, 2025 through August 2, 2025.
Our CS Chats typically occur on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 11:00 AM. As mentioned above, CS Chats consist of workshops to develop research and professional skills, but they also expose our students to interesting CS ideas and history presented by our faculty and staff. CS Chats are also platforms for students to practice their public speaking and presentation skills.
Stauffer Talks typically occur on Thursdays at 11:00 AM. These talks feature a wide range of topics, reflecting the broad, interdisciplinary education that is a hallmark of a liberal arts college. They are hosted by Harvey Mudd College for all participating Summer students on campus.
We also encourage current program participants to build community through social events. Some are coordinated by the program, while others emerge from student suggestions. We welcome feedback and ideas for gatherings that reflect the interests and energy of the current cohort.
