Crayola Creativity Week (Jan 26 - Feb 1, 2026) - Kids are naturally curious. They ask why and how? They imagine. They create. When kids create, they solve problems and think up new solutions. Young creatives need to be nurtured, so that their originality shines. So their ideas can take shape and become real. When we celebrate their innate creative mindsets, children view the world with wonder. They embrace innovative thinking. They create possibilities.
Students will be doing one of the weekly experiences in art class this year to celebrate the week. This week long event will be celebrated at school and we encourage you to follow along at home! Lunar New Year - Also known as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, marks the start of a new zodiac cycle based on the Chinese lunar calendar. Each year, the date shifts within the Gregorian calendar. Celebrated by millions around the world, this is a time for cultural traditions, family reunions, and hopes for good fortune in the coming year. Black History Month (February 1-28) - This Web portal, https://blackhistorymonth.gov/ , is a collaborative project of the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and U.S. National Archives and Records Administration paying tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society.

Autism Acceptance Month (April 1-30) - Autism Acceptance Month celebrates and honors the experiences and identities of Autistic individuals. Earth Day (April 22) - The first Earth Day was observed on April 22, 1970, when 20 million people across America celebrated by filling their local streets, parks and auditoriums to demand a healthy, sustainable environment. Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15-10/15) - While we celebrate Hispanic and Latino communities beyond this month, from September 15 to October 15 we give extra recognition to the many contributions made to the history and culture of the United States, including important advocacy work, vibrant art, popular and traditional foods, and much more. There is an alternate lunch schedule for Grandparents' lunch ( See below)
Grandparents may only have lunch with their own grandchildren
Siblings may not be pulled from their classes to join another sibling's lunch
We kindly ask that you adhere to the lunch schedule
If students will be checked out for the day after lunch, please ensure the grandparent is listed on the pick up list.
School aged children may not attend luncheons as they should be in attendance at their own school.
Adults do not have to purchase a meal for yourself to have lunch.
An outside lunch may be brought in.
Student prices are different than adult prices. If you would like to purchase a pizza lunch for your student, you may do so through the cafeteria line.

Diwali (10/20) - Diwali (also called Divali or Deepavali) is a festival of lights that celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and the blessings of victory, freedom, and enlightenment. Red Ribbon Week (10/27-10/31) - Red Ribbon Week is the nation's largest and longest-running drug-use prevention campaign. Students will be learning lessons from counselor, Mrs. Torres, on the importance of staying Drug Free! More information to come...
Students who are on the "Do not photo" list will be able to walk in the parade but will not appear on the live video. Please, NO masks, weapons, or gory costumes. You are also asked to bring a copy of your book to hold in the parade if you have it.

American Indian Heritage Month (November 1-30) - America is a vast land of many cultures dating back thousands of years to the original inhabitants of the land. The history and heritage of Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Island communities are part of all national parks today. Throughout the year, and especially during November during Native American Heritage Month, we celebrate together the rich traditions, languages, and contributions of Indigenous people.
Veteran's Day Performance (11/11) -CES is preparing for our Veteran's Day on November, 11th, 2025! Your family and friends can be a part of our celebration by submitting a photo of your soldier for our slideshow, decorating an American Star for our display, wearing red/white/blue on Tuesday 11/11, and watching our 5thgrader's performance at 8am on 11/11 (live-streamed on CES' Facebook page). Veterans and Active-Duty Service Members are invited to attend 5th grade's program at 8am in the CES Cafeteria and enjoy a reception following the performance (RSVP here, pre-register in the front office starting 11/3)! Please see the Veteran's Day flyer and invitation for more information. Thank you for supporting our troops!
Book Fair (November 10-14) - It's time for the Fall Cullen Book Fair! We will set up the book fair during the school day this coming Wednesday, November 5th. We are in need of 3 - 4 more parents that can help us set up the book fair between 10:00 - 12:30 p.m. Here is the link to sign up to help us set up or to volunteer to help at any point during our book fair! We super appreciate any and all help you can give in advance! Students will preview the book fair and make their wish lists on Thursday and Friday, Nov 6th and 7th.
Book Fair Sales will take place the week of November 10th - 14th. Students can shop anytime during the school day on their own. They can bring in cash, check, or use an eWallet, which are online funds to spend at the fair. You load in these funds from your home and when we look up your student's name in the cash registers, it will tell us how much funds you have loaded for them. Here is the link to sign up for the eWallet if you would like your student to have this option.
Parents can shop at the book fair each afternoon from 3:15 - 3:45 with their child, Monday - Thursday. Parents or family members can also shop with their child after eating Thanksgiving lunch with their student on Wednesday, November 12th. Family Night will be Thursday the 13th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Teachers will run registers on that night, the choir will perform, and we will have fun games with prizes! We can't wait to see you at the Book Fair!
Holiday Musical Performance, Thursday December 4 @ 6:00 pm - Students in the 1st and 2nd grade at CES are excited to present their winter program: A Bear-y Merry Holiday! Friends and family are invited to attend the performance on Thursday, December 4th, 2025 at 6:00pm (Performers: please arrive at 5:30) in the CES Cafetorium. All 1st and 2nd grade students are highly encouraged to perform, but it is not mandatory. Students who are performing should dress in festive holiday attire, arrive at 5:30 and go to the CES gym. Thank you for your support! We hope to see you there!
Holiday Sing Along, Thursday December 18th @ 8:00 am- Like last year, we're going to get everyone together in the cafeteria to enjoy some classic holiday songs before we go off on winter break!

Get ready to add some color to your summer, one book at a time! The Kyle Public Library invites readers of all ages to join our Summer of Color Reading Challenge. From babies to adults, everyone is encouraged to read for 45 days over the summer. Track your progress using our colorful reading log and earn a completion certificate and a chance to win awesome grand prizes!
But that’s not all, each week we’ll celebrate a different color with themed crafts, exciting guest performers, and interactive programs. Whether you’re joining a STEAM lab, catching a science show, or exploring the stars in a mobile planetarium, there’s something for everyone.
Start your summer with creativity, curiosity, and a whole lot of color. Pick up your reading log at the library starting May 27, 2025 and kick off the season with us!
