Read Thomas C. Foster's text, How to Read Literature like a Professor, and use it to fill in the Chapter Notetaker below.
In the "Summary" column, you should summarize key points of the chapter, such as the trope it discusses in literature and its meaning.
In the "Application" column, you should discuss how the information from the chapter gives you insight into a text you have previously read. These texts can be novels, short stories, comic books, tv shows, films, video games, etc.
Foster's text is widely popular and available in a number of editions. For your summer work, any version is acceptable.
Ways to Access the Text:
Buy a copy from the local bookstore (my top choice)
Listen to the audio book on Spotify or Audible
Check out a copy from the PRHS Media Center or the Gwinnett County Public Library
If none of the above are possible for you, speak with Dr. Fleeson ASAP. He can help connect you to the text via other means.
Please make a copy of the Chapter Notetaker in your Google Drive to track your thoughts as you read. These can be quick bullet points or any type of note useful for you.
Note: The Chapter Notetaker is based on the 1st Edition, so the chapter numbers may have changed and some information has been shuffled around. Do your best to match it up and email me with any question. If I skip the chapter on the notetaker, you can skip it in your reading.
