I am excited to have you as part of the 2026-2027 cohort of AP© Literature and Composition at Peachtree Ridge High School!
You have two tasks to complete over the summer that will launch our discussions of literature in August. These tasks include reading and taking notes on one book (How to Read Literature like a Professor) and developing an information page about a common literary allusion. More information about both is linked above.
The information from these tasks will appear in one of your first assignments of the school year. Those who have taken the time to thoroughly engage with and reflect upon the content are going to be set up for greater success on that assignment. Copy/pasting the information from elsewhere or utilizing AI will limit your potential.
AP© Literature and Composition includes the fundamentals of literary analysis and introductory college composition. Using a mixture of poetry, short stories, and novels/drama, students will explore themes that shape humanity to develop as beginning literary critics. The core work of this course will involve building connections between literature throughout time through the recognition of patterns, creative expression, and argumentative writing.
