GSMST's Acceptable Use of Electronic Media (AUEM) policy governs all student use of technology, including your school-issued laptop, provided software and platforms, and the GCPS network. You can access the full policy here.
Your student laptop is GCPS property, and you are responsible for keeping it secure and in good working order.
Use of a mobile hotspot or other device or method to bypass the GCPS network is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action.
You are responsible for any fines added to your account following GSMST’s incident structure and the Tech Team’s/Admin Team’s assessment of damage to my laptop/laptop charger/any other GSMST technology.
You will not purchase nor use any third-party chargers or unapproved equipment with your GCPS GSMST laptop/laptop charger.
You will not write on, draw on, decorate, or put stickers directly onto my GSMST laptop/laptop charger or my protective clamshell case. This action may result in damage fines.
If your charger is lost, or turned in without a GSMST student name label on it, you will be charged for a replacement charger.
You are expected to bring your school laptop and charger to school every day, and you should restart your laptop while at school at least twice a week to receive important updates.
Bring your school laptop/laptop charger to the Tech Team for inspection as soon as you notice any damage/malfunction on the laptop or with your laptop charger. Your laptop may need to be sent out for repair if it has physical damage.
The Tech Team is not responsible for the files stored locally on your laptop. If your laptop crashes or needs to be reimaged, any locally saved files may be lost/deleted. Back up important files to Google Drive or an external device.
Improper use of your laptop/laptop charger may result in the confiscation of your laptop/laptop charger and disciplinary consequences.
This information is on the check-out document you complete when receiving your laptop at the beginning of the school year. The full AEUM is posted on the student forms page school website.
