Did you know...?

  • There are more than nine million Native Americans living in the United States, representing hundreds of tribal nations with diverse languages, cultures and traditions.

  • There are 574 federally recognized tribes in the United States; 229 are found in Alaska. California has the second-highest number of federally recognized tribes, with 109, as well as the largest Native American population of any state.

  • Native Americans spoke more than 300 languages prior to colonization, with as many as 500 spoken across the North American continent. Many of these languages have disappeared as a result of assimilation policies by the U.S. government.

  • The Navajo Nation has the largest tribal land in the United States with almost 25,000 square miles—an area about the size of West Virginia, and more than twice as large as Maryland. The nation extends into Arizona, New Mexico and Utah.

  • In 2021, the Navajo Nation also surpassed the Cherokee Nation to become the largest tribe by population too, with nearly 400,000 registered members. And as you might expect, Navajo has the most speakers of any Native American language.

A BIG congratulations to Dr. Garner who was awarded a Bright Ideas grant this past week from Jackson EMC!!! His award will be used to fund his DroneTech project with his engineering Connections students. We can't wait to see his amazing project in action!

Have you contributed to the PTA's No-Fuss Fundraiser?

Here's one more chance to donate through the weekend. Please donate!

To keep things simple and easy, this year we are doing a “No Fuss Fundraiser”! No selling, no going door-to-door, no asking for money from friends and family. We are simply asking for a one time donation of $20 for your kid. These funds will allow PTA to do 2 things, continue to support our kids with events and activities and continue to show love and appreciation for our teachers and staff.

To donate simply click the link https://app.memberhub.gives/daculamiddleschoolpta and donate today!

Every student that participated will receive a special treat on November 11th and every class with 100% participation will receive a pizza party!

We hope you’ll join us this year in supporting our kids and teachers!
