The Teachers College Resource and Outreach Center makes education materials accessible to students, faculty, and staff at ESU, and area educators. This includes being a showcase for new materials and providing resources including manipulative, audio-visual, and print holdings that supplement classroom instruction and assessment to address the continuum of learning.
What's In Our Collection?
In addition to promoting education resources provided by the ESU Libraries + Archives and online resources available by the State Library of Kansas, TROC houses several unique collections including the Bleeker Literature Collection, a multicultural collection, Bill Martin Jr. Award Books, William Allen White Children's Book Awards, BASAL readers, test prep materials, and other education-related resources for teaching, learning, psychology, instructional technology, and counselor education; all of which contribute to our goal of "Working Together for Education."

*Items can be requested for recall by TROC staff in cases where items are requested and needed by ESU students. See our policy below for more details.
TROC materials are subject to recall after two weeks. In this case, the loan period may be shortened as a result. Fines will be assessed on an overdue recalled material at $1.00 / day, until the materials is returned. This will help to insure that materials are available to all that need them.
Materials may be returned at the service desk (Room 224, Visser Hall) or from the book drop by our front (East) entrance. Materials may also be mailed to:
CC: Teachers College Resource and Outreach Center, Visser Hall
1 Kellogg Circle, Campus Box 4036
Emporia, Kansas 66801-5092
TROC has a mail delivery service with the William Allen White Library (via our campus mail). If a patron is not able to return materials to Visser Hall (TROC), materials may be returned to the William Allen White Library via their book drop inside and outside the library building. However, WAW Library staff are not responsible for checking in these materials, and the campus mail is not an immediate delivery. If materials are returned to this location on the due date, there is no guarantee that the material will be returned to TROC without a late fee. In this case, renewing the material from your My Library Account, should extend the loan period (unless the loan renews has been maxed) to allow time for this delivery process. TROC is not responsible for the pickup and delivery of materials.
When a book becomes 60 days overdue, the patron the item record defaults the item as a lost book. Fees for lost items are based on the replacement price for the book, in addition to a $15.00 processing fee. Lost book charges are not available for refund if an item is found and returned. In some cases, the patron may purchase a replacement copy (in place of paying the replacement fee of the book) as long as the replacement copy is in good condition.
Fines are not processed after office hours.
Failure to receive an overdue notice in no way releases the user from the obligation to return materials on time or to pay charges due.
TROC will contact the Business Office to put a lock on the Patrons records if the patron has outstanding fines on their account by the end of the semester.
Note: TROC Patron Card Holders will be responsible for any fines or lost book fees.
Fines may be paid at the service desk in Visser Hall, Room 224, during business hours. Fines processed after 4:00 PM, may not be processed and posted immediately. Cash, checks, and credit cards are all acceptable forms of payment for money owed. TROC does not accept or process fines for materials checked out from other campus locations (i.e. University Libraries + Archives, Nursing Library, or SMEC Library). These locations also do not accept fines for materials that belong to TROC.
Failure to pay fines may result in the loss of borrowing privileges until the user has taken care of the obligation. For some patron types, this may also put a hold on your transcript account.
Questions regarding fines and their amounts may be directed to troc@emporia.edu or 620-341-5292.
