She is a Counselor at Strickland Middle School.
The role of the IMPACT Counselor is to provide crisis intervention, psycho-educational counseling services and referrals to community counseling agencies when necessary. The goal of the IMPACT Counselor is to identify and resolve mental health issues significantly impacting a student’s success in the classroom. Referrals to the IMPACT Counselor can be made by teachers, administrators and parents. Most often, students refer themselves.

Hello Viking Family!
My name is Mrs. Owens, and I am proud to serve as a Counselor here at Strickland Middle School. I’m absolutely thrilled to work with your student and support them as they grow and navigate their middle school years.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of North Texas and a Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. I have over eight years of experience working with students and families within the school district, and I’m passionate about providing students with the support, skills, and tools they need to thrive.
My husband and I are the proud parents of three amazing kids—also part of the Denton ISD family!
A Few Fun Facts About Me:
🎶 We’re a musical family! I love to sing, and my husband sings and plays the guitar and piano.
🍰 I love to bake! Though I’m an amateur by training, I feel like a master chef in my own kitchen. From cakes to breads—I love it all!
📚 I’m an avid reader and a huge fan of audiobooks. Don’t be surprised if you catch me raving about the Denton Public Library!
🐾 Our home is full of pets! We have a playful pup named Ranger, a bearded dragon named Bolt, and a leopard gecko named Leppy.
I can’t wait to get to know your student this year and help make their time at Strickland a positive and impactful experience.

Mi nombre es Sra. Owens y me siento orgullosa de servir como una Consejera aquí en la Escuela Strickland Middle School. ¡Estoy absolutamente emocionada de trabajar con su estudiante y apoyarlo mientras crece y navega por sus años de intermedia!
Tengo una licenciatura en Desarrollo Humano y Estudios de la Familia de la Universidad del Norte de Texas (UNT) y una maestría en Trabajo Social de la Universidad de Texas en Arlington (UTA). Cuento con más de ocho años de experiencia trabajando con estudiantes y familias dentro del distrito escolar, y me apasiona brindar a los estudiantes el apoyo, las habilidades y las herramientas que necesitan para prosperar.
Mi esposo y yo somos padres orgullosos de tres hijos increíbles—¡también parte de la familia de Denton ISD!

🎶 ¡Somos una familia musical! Me encanta cantar, y mi esposo canta y toca la guitarra y el piano.
🍰 ¡Me encanta hornear! Aunque soy una aficionada, me siento como una chef profesional en mi cocina. ¡Disfruto hornear de todo, desde pasteles hasta panes!
📚 ¡Soy una ávida lectora y gran fanática de los audiolibros! ¡No se sorprenda si me escucha hablar maravillas de la Biblioteca Pública de Denton!
🐾 ¡Nuestra casa está llena de mascotas! Tenemos un perrito juguetón llamado Ranger, una dragona barbuda llamada Bolt, y un gecko leopardo llamado Leppy.
