Lunchroom Safety

  • Rodriguez Middle School plans to utilize the school cafeteria for student meals. NOTE: no parents/visitors during lunch at least for the fall semester.

  • RMS will utilize several additional areas during scheduled lunch periods in order to maintain social distancing. These areas include school courtyards and flexible spaces that will have seating to accommodate. All seating will maintain social distancing standards.

  • Cafeteria staff will be trained in COVID-19 safety protocols.

  • All cafeteria staff will be wearing masks and gloves while serving students.

  • Students will be issued a picture ID and a lanyard to use as part of "no-touch" lunch purchase process.

  • Seats, tables, door handles and high-touch areas will be disinfected between lunch periods/use.

  • When possible, food items will be prepacked and boxed to minimize face-to-face contact in the cafeteria line.

  • Students who choose to bring their lunch, will find a seat in the cafeteria soon after entrance.

  • Students who choose to get lunch from school will wait in lines and will go through the lunch line as demonstrated in the video above.

  • Students will sit 2 or 3 to a seat on long tables and 2 to a seat on shorter tables. Students sitting closer than 6 feet from one another will utilize a portable shield to physically separate them from others.
