Athletic Events
Family members of students competing in the athletic event will have priority to attend the event in which their student is competing. Capacity will be limited at all events. Students wishing to attend an athletic event must attend with a parent/guardian.
RMS Campus Specific Information
Connected Learners and On-Campus Participation
Students participating in RMS Connected Learning will be able to participate in on-campus extracurricular activities.
Parents will provide transportation to and from campus during the scheduled class periods for on-campus extracurricular participation. Students will be responsible for attendance in all classes prior to and after on campus participation.
Students are expected to follow self screening protocols each day prior to coming to campus.
Students will enter the building at previously determined entrances and will be asked to wear a face covering and sanitize their hands prior to participation on campus.
General District Information
Cheer
Practices and performances will be conducted following safety protocol provided by guidance from Denton ISD, UIL and TEA. This will include COVID-19 screening, group sizes, sharing and sanitizing of equipment, locker room usage, etc.
Athletics
Screening
Coaches will self-screen / temp check each day before arrival
Coaches may also screen / temp check athletes prior to entering athletic areas
Parents screen athletes at home and keep the student home if Covid symptoms exist
Entry
No one is permitted to enter athletic areas without a face covering
Coaches will designate an entry and exit plan that will promote smooth transitions
Hand sanitizer is available at entrances
Locker Room
Face coverings are required while inside all athletic areas.
Locker rooms, equipment inside the lockers, and restroom areas will be sanitized at the conclusion of the athletic period as well as after school practices.
Coaches will monitor locker rooms to ensure players masked
Only athletes will be issued lockers for the class period to lock up personal belongings. Locker assignments will promote spacing. Every student will have their own locker.
Nothing is to be left in lockers overnight. Locker room access will be prohibited except for class time.
Football Only
Athletes who participate in football will be issued a locker. Only the following items will be left inside the locker when not in use to ensure proper sanitizing daily: Helmet, Shoulder pads, pants, practice jersey, and girdle
Restrooms / Showers
Limit number of athletes in the restroom at a time to allow for physical distancing
Washing hands upon exit is required
Showers will be used only when athletes are going to class following the activity
Weight Room
We will sanitize the weight room before and after each use
Hand Sanitizer is available throughout each weight room
Physical distancing will always be enforced
Face coverings are required when not actively working out
Doors will be propped open to promote circulation
Practice Protocol
Face coverings are required at practice. They will be worn when the player is not actively in a drill.
Gaiters (Face Coverings that can be worn around the neck when not on) are strongly encouraged.
In the event a player is not in a drill and needs to catch his/her breath they will be required to physical distance.
No high fives etc. Physical distancing or masking will be enforced all the time
Anytime we are directly coaching, players and coaches will be masked
Hydration
Water will not be shared
Water fountains in the athletic areas are off limits unless using the water bottle feature
Every player is required to bring their own water jug each day.
Coaches will have a plan for those that forget
Physical distancing will be enforced during breaks
Water cows will not be used as shared water however one person with gloves could be designated to refill jugs
Exit
Hand sanitizer is available upon exit
Coaches will be assigned outside duty to ensure physical distancing and that students leave campus and do not linger
Every player will need to have a ride upon the conclusion of practice
Hybrid Plan/Plan for Online Learners
Connected learners at Rodriguez will attend the athletic period when in season
Players will need to arrange transportation on the days they are not in person
7th Grade Athletics
Athletes will need to arrive in their workout gear for morning practice if they make a team. If an athlete does not have their gear, they will not be able to participate in the team practice. ConnectedLearning athletes will leave campus in their workout gear. Face to Face Learners will need to take their gear with them daily, leaving nothing in their locker or in the locker room. Off season athletes will arrive at the beginning of first period. Athletes will be in groups of no more than 20 to access the locker room to dress for the class period as well as the end of class to change back into school clothing. Students will be given 5 minutes to dress so that social distancing requirements are met. Students must wear their masks at all times when they are in the locker room area. Locker rooms will be sanitized after each athletic period.
8th Grade Athletics
Face to face athletes will be in groups of no more than 20 to access the locker room to dress for the class period as well as the end of class to change back into school clothing. Students will be given 5 minutes to dress so that social distancing requirements are met. Students must wear their masks at all times when they are in the locker room area. Athletes that have made a team and are attending after school practices will remain in the gym area for practice. ConnectedLearning athletes that have made a team will need to arrive on campus with the gear on. Locker rooms will be sanitized after each afternoon practice.

Bus travel will follow transportation guidelines provided by Denton ISD and TEA.
Spectator attendance at games and contests may be limited based on TEA and UIL guidelines. Ticketing for events may be utilized to control capacity of facilities.
Post game sign out procedures for athletes will be communicated to parents prior to the beginning of each season.
Event procedures will be in place to minimize face-to-face interactions.
Separate entrances and exits may be utilized and event doors may be propped open to minimize physical contact with handles. In the event of utilizing an open door, school staff will be monitoring the entrances and exits at all times to ensure the safety and security of the building.
Spectator seats may be marked and/or configured in a way to enforce social distancing.
Concessions and/or concession sales may be limited to encourage social distancing and to follow health and safety guidelines.
Fine Arts
Large group practice sessions, sectionals and rehearsals will adhere to social distancing guidelines provided by an authorized entity (e.g., Denton ISD, TEA, UIL, etc.)
Bus travel will follow transportation guidelines provided by Denton ISD and TEA.
Particular avoidance of close physical proximity in cases of increased exhalation (singing, exercise); these activities are likely safest outdoors and spread out.
Fine arts music private lesson teachers will not be allowed to teach on campus facilities until further guidance is provided by an authorized entity. Private lessons may continue to be conducted virtually if agreed upon between individual families and the lesson teacher. All district guidelines and pricing will continue to be adhered to.
Off-campus fine arts performances will only be conducted if specific guidance is provided by an authorized entity (e.g., Denton ISD, TEA, UIL, etc.)
Concerts/performances may be adjusted based on health and safety guidelines provided by an authorized entity (e.g., Denton ISD, TEA, UIL, etc.) including but not limited to transportation procedures, number of attendees, and the orientation of concerts.
All fine arts performances will be streamed online when possible.
Booster club meetings should be held virtually to minimize outside exposure to campuses.
