Greetings Mustang families!
It is our privilege to welcome you to Nette Shultz Elementary School. Originally opened in 1960 as Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, our educators have been partnering with families with pride for more than 60 years to support a long tradition of excellence and high levels of learning for our students. These high levels refer to students' academic learning, their behavior and character development, as well as their artistic, physical, musical, social, and emotional growth. The close involvement and support of our parents and families is essential for the growth and success of every student, and we thank you for sharing your children with us and being a key part of their learning journey!
Our mission at Shultz Elementary is simply Learning for Life. Through all we do, we strive to teach children the essential academic and nonacademic skills they require to lead impactful, successful, and fulfilling lives.
Our school has long valued high levels of involvement from our families. This includes communication with and support of your child's teachers, your presence at school in general and for special events, and volunteering your time when available. We also encourage every Shultz family to become members of our PTA each year and support their work in a way that is meaningful for you. Whatever your availability or talents, our PTA has ways you can help our teachers, students, and school.
Known simply as "Raising Mustangs," this handbook for our parents and families is intended as a guide to supporting your child's educational experience at our school. As a general guide, it is designed to be a companion to Denton ISD board policy, the district student code of conduct, and the district parent and student handbook. For questions regarding specific policies, we invite you to contact us.
Thank you for sharing your children with us, and it is an honor to partner with you in your child's education!
With Mustang pride,
Matt Preston, Principal
Emily Galindo, Assistant Principal
