All volunteers are required to submit a new background check application each school year.
Parents/guardians, other family members, and community volunteers must complete a Denton ISD volunteer application, which includes a background check, if they wish to volunteer their time as field trip chaperones, mentors, or for other classroom or school activities involving working with children. New volunteer applications must be completed every school year. Applications can be submitted beginning July 1st for the upcoming school year. They can take 10-15 business days to be processed, so we recommend completing these applications as early as possible.

Volunteering
There are many ways to become involved at our campus. We can find opportunities for you in almost any manner to become involved. In most cases, we can find you the right task, at the right time of day to work with your desires and your busy schedule. There are opportunities for regular, weekly involvement and opportunities to help out with special events (field trips, class parties, special events, etc.).
Here are a few of the things you could do, but feel free to ask if you have something else in mind:
If you would like to assist in the classroom with student tutoring or by helping teachers with their many tasks, just ask a classroom teacher.
If you think you might like to serve as a mentor to a student, contact our school counselor.
If your business would like to support our campus through contribution of time or funding, contact the assistant principal.
If you think you might like to help out with a special classroom, grade-wide, or school-wide event, feel free to ask the classroom teacher or another member of the school staff.
Field trip chaperone opportunities will be shared by grade level teachers. For many field trips, a limited number of chaperone spots are available, so thank you for understanding that not all interested parents will be able to chaperone every field trip.
Field Trips
Field trips are an extension of classroom academics. Denton ISD Code of Conduct is to be followed and appropriate conduct shall be required at all times. Only those parents on the district approved chaperone list and selected by the school as a chaperone for each field trip may attend the trip with the school. A chaperone’s duties include supervision of students, enforcing school rules and teacher directives. Siblings and other children are not permitted to attend the field trip with approved chaperones. Due to limited bus space, adult chaperones will not be able to ride the bus with the students. Any fees from the students or chaperones for each field trip will be due prior to the day of departure.
