We are so excited to start this school year with our Raider choir family. We have many events and activities planned for this school year. Please be sure to check the calendar for upcoming dates. The choir calendar will be updated when necessary and more details will be added as we go through the year, but please note the three seasonal concerts October 5th, December 14th, and May 17th, all in our Fine Arts Center and all starting at 7:00 PM.
SUPER SATURDAY
Mark your calendar for our Super Saturday on August 22nd. In the morning we will have Get Fit Day, where students will be sized for their choir uniform. This will take place in the choir room from 9:00 - 11:00 AM with students arriving at staggered intervals. That afternoon we are Taking Over Denton Water Works. All choir students are invited to join us for fun in the sun and water from 3:00 - 5:00 PM. Price for choir students is $10. Each student may also bring one student guest at our $10 ticket price. Please save the date with more information to follow. If you already have a pass for water works, you do not need to purchase a ticket.
SCOTLAND/ENGLAND TRIP
We believe that travel is a very important part of education and we are excited about another opportunity to travel for the Raider choir program. This year's Choir Performance Trip will be to Scotland/England over Spring Break March 4 - 13, 2027. We already have over 70 travelers signed-up for the trip, but still have room to add more if you would like to travel with us. This will be the only chance for international travel for your student with the choir. Please contact Mr. Rives ASAP if you would like to join the trip.
PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS
We know that there is no better way for your student to improve their singing than to have a trained professional give one-on-one coaching. We are excited that Mr. Michael Rausch will be teaching lessons at Ryan. Mr. Rausch is a veteran private voice instructor with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from Texas Christian University and a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory. Lessons are $22 a week (1 half hour lesson) that takes place during your student's choir class. If you are interested in private voice instruction for you student, please contact Mr. Rives to set up lessons.
ALL-REGION AUDITIONS
Students who plan to audition for All-Region choir should contact Mr. Rives or Mx. Kats to be added to the list and receive more information. The first audition is September 19th at Marcus High School.
CHOIR BOOSTER CLUB
We have an incredible choir booster board led by president Liz Coppin. If you are interested in being a booster club officer, please contact Liz Coppin.
CHOIR ACTIVITY FEE
There will be a $60 activity fee for students enrolled in choir. This fee helps pay for concert meals, special events, transportation costs, and supplies. Cash/check can be brought to the choir room. Fee is due October 2nd. Online payments: https://choir-fees-81810.cheddarup.com
LETTER JACKETS
Requirements for letter jackets can be found here! Please let Mr. Rives know if you are eligible to receive a letter jacket. Seniors who have been in high school choir for four years should be eligible for a jacket.
We are looking forward to a great year of singing and having fun! Thank you for letting us make music with your students. See you soon!
