At the end of Fall 2020, all of the high school orchestras of Denton ISD worked on an arrangement of Waltz of the Flowers from Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. This was arranged into multiple orchestra parts by Mr Atkins so that all of the different groups could participate at an appropriate level. This video is the culmination of the all of the audio recording of each group as well as the video presentations. The credits music was arranged and mixed by Guyer Junior Santiago Palafox.
In 2022, the Guyer orchestra program commissioned composer Andres Martin to compose a bass concert to feature GHS orchestra student Christian Luevano. The Guyer orchestras then performed the world premier of this new piece. Christian Luevano was a 4-time high school all-state member (including multiple #1 rankings in state) and went on to study at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
During the hybrid learning year in 2020-2021, the Guyer Orchestra cluster 5th-12th grade students and directors worked on a combined video performance of Beethoven's Ode to Joy, incorporating both at-home learners and in-person learners.
