Denton ISD values parent/guardian partnership in learning. We support parents/guardians as the primary educators of their children. As a parent/guardian, you have the right to preview all education material. If you would like to request that your child NOT attend one of the above presentations, please contact Mrs. Scanlan at ascanlan@dentonisd.org.
If you have not already, please complete the Informed Consent for School-Based Counseling and Support Services. SB 12 (2025) now requires parent or guardian permission for students to receive the same counseling and social services support we've always provided.
Further information can be found on the consent form at the following link: https://forms.dentonisd.org/Forms/ConsentforSchoolBasedMentalHealthServices
*You will need your child's ID number to complete the online form. Paper forms are available by request.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at ascanlan@dentonisd.org.
Our dear Mustang is looking for a job!
We need interested “employers” who would take Mustang to a work day with them and show him the ropes. He’s hoping to bring back everything he learns to teach our students about future careers!
You could document your time together with photos, Google Slides/Powerpoint, a video - whatever you feel comfortable doing.
*Think Flat Stanley, but a Mustang!
If you are interested in picking up a Flat Mustang & hearing further information, please contact Mrs. Scanlan at ascanlan@dentonisd.org.
*Why Flat Mustang? One of my personal program goals is to have career education year-round available for the students, not just during Career Week. One way I want to do that is through focusing on a CTE (Career & Technical Education) program of study each month. My College, Career, & Military Readiness (CCMR) goal is that our students can identify a CTE pathway they would be interested in starting in secondary. They choose as early as 8th grade, and CCMR is always a big push for student readiness!
What is the Anti Victim Opt In/Opt Out section during registration?
Each year, the state of Texas requires school counselors to administer lessons on Mandated Topics. In Denton ISD, Bullying & Cyberbullying, Healthy Choices, and Emotional Wellness are provided during classroom guidance by the school counselor.
Healthy Relationships (called Anti Victimization in registration) is presented by the Children's Advocacy Center of North Texas (CACNT). Parent/guardians must give permission (opt-in) during registration for students to participate in the lesson.
If you have already registered and would like to change your response, please contact me through e-mail, and I can update our presentation list.
