W.R.A.P. Group
Denton I.S.D. believes a child’s education should be based on the whole child approach. As a result, Denton I.S.D. want to ensure all parts of the school come together to develop a partnership with parents, and the wider community. By involving all key figures in a student’s life, Denton I.S.D. is able to provide a comprehensive wrap-around support for students and their families.
W.R.A.P. -- The Wilson Restorative Action Plan -- looks at discipline from a restorative approach and addresses the underlying reasons for students’ behavior. This not only allows students to remain in the classroom setting but also teaches children and teens on the appropriate way to handle problems.
The philosophy of W.R.A.P. is based on an unconditional commitment to not only support a child’s success but also the family’s success. Through the W.R.A.P. services we are able to provide strategies that our families can use to meet their goals based on their family’s strengths and the natural supports that are available in their community. The W.R.A.P. goals are based on addressing a student's behavior and on the family’s needs, goals, desires building upon the family’s values, culture and beliefs.
What is the benefit of W.R.A.P.?
Students referred to W.R.A.P. are given the opportunity to avoid a DAEP placement and/or shorten the length of a DAEP placement which will ensure a student is missing less academic time on their home campus.
