Thanks for visiting my site, and welcome to all our new Titans!
This is my ninth year teaching at Bettye Myers Middle School. I began my career in Longview ISD, where I taught 6th-grade Pre-AP English Language Arts and Reading. After moving to Denton, I spent a year teaching 7th-grade ELA before joining the EXPO department. As someone with a passion for critical thinking, problem solving, and project-based learning, it has truly been the perfect fit. This year marks my eighth year with the EXPO program, and I can say in all sincerity that time really does fly when you're having fun!
I am a 2000 graduate of Texas Christian University, where I earned a B.A. in Vocal Music and a B.B.A. in Management. After working as a senior insurance adjuster and staying home to raise my boys, I earned my teaching certificate and jumped in with both feet. Teaching is most definitely a calling for me, and while it's not always easy, I promise to bring enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and experiment every day.
In August 2021, I earned my Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology. It was incredibly challenging work, but I learned so many new things that I now enjoy using in my classroom. I’m a bit "old school" when it comes to reading and writing, preferring a real book, some paper, and a pencil. That said, we live in a technology-driven world, and it’s important to me that my students leave middle school equipped with the 21st-century skills they’ll need to thrive in the future.
I am humbled and blessed to assist you in shaping the young minds you send to our campus each day. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. This is going to be a great year!
