Hello, my name is Macey Arel. I will be your child's teacher this year. If you already know me, then you know that teaching is my life. I knew I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl. I remember when I was 5 years old, I would put all my dolls and G.I. Joe action figures against the wall and teach them their ABC's. Years later, here I am. It is definitely my calling in life.
For those of you that do not know me, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in the suburbs outside of Chicago with my mom, dad and my 2 brothers, but our family was transferred to Texas in 1991 with his job with Frito Lay. I went to school and graduated college from the University of North Texas in 2000. I started teaching kindergarten at Hodge Elementary here in Denton, but was able to open up WS Ryan in 2001. I taught kindergarten for 12 years and 1 year of 3rd grade at WS Ryan from 2001-2014. In 2014, I got the wonderful opportunity open up Dorothy Adkins Elementary! I am lucky to be able to go to my job everyday, and not call it "work". I feel very blessed to be at such a great school with great teachers, with whom I feel proud to call my friends. I believe that a every child learns in their own way and it is my job to figure that out. That is why I am here. I am very competitive at anything I do in life and make sure that I do it to my best ability.
I love any and all sports. I play soccer, volleyball, basketball, golf and softball, and I LOVE to watch baseball and football! During the summers, I am a full time mamma and work on my tan. In my "spare" time, I LOVE to go to the movies and hang out with friends and family!
I live in Denton, TX with my husband Steve, our twins, Max and Marley, and big sister Isla! They keep us busy with all 3 of them playing school /select sports, so we pretty much live at the ballfields during the weekends. I just love being a mommy!!
Steve and I enjoy playing softball, going to movies, working out, traveling, and just hanging out together. He is my best friend and is always there to remind to sit back and enjoy life; it moves pretty quickly.
Well, I hope that gives you a good look at who I am. It is a quick glimpse of my past, but I am always looking toward the future and what it will bring. I can't wait to get to know you and make great memories with your children!
Hugs and Bugs! :)
