MAJORS: *the following excludes projects
Students who score between 89% - 70% may choose to reassess on any major assignment. If wanting to reassess...students must communicate with Mrs. Hall verbally and/or through email.
MANDATORY REASSESSMENT: Students who score 69% or below on a major assignment and are failing ELAR with an overall average 69% or below will be required to reassess. REQUIRED REASSESSMENT students MUST complete additional practice work and attend at least one-day of tutorials either through enrichment, or an appointment discussed and arranged with Mrs. Hall.
Students who make below a 70% on a major assignment and are passing ELAR will be allowed and encouraged to reassess, but reassessment will not be mandatory. The max grade students can receive is a 90% once reassessment and requirements have been fulfilled and completed.
Students have a 4 day window (starting from when Mrs. Hall indicates the 4-day window has begun) to reassess the assignment.
Reassessments will generally take place during enrichment, unless an appointment outside of enrichment has been discussed with Mrs. Hall either verbally and/or through email.
Disciplinary actions will be enforced for students who are failing ELAR and do not complete the necessary work/tutoring for reassessment, and/or they do not show up for reassessment during time allotted.
PROJECTS & ESSAYS: *count as a major grade
No reassessments will be allowed for project/essay grades. Instead, students will receive formative grades and/or minor grades throughout the project process to ensure success, punctuality and understanding prior to the final project grade entered into HAC. Once a project grade is entered into HAC, it is a final grade.
Formative Grades: will be given throughout the grading period for reassurance of success of concepts learned with assignments. These grades will be entered as a 0, 1, or 2 in HAC, and do not affect the student's overall average. Formative grades will not be replaced once work is improved, unless student makes an effort to communicate with Mrs. Hall outside of class, generally during enrichment.
0 = student did not meet the requirements needed for success on the assignment/project or no work was submitted for assignment.
1 = student did work on the assignment, but not enough work was completed to fulfill requirements, or student did not fully grasp concept
2 = student meets all requirements needed for success on the assignment/project, and portrayed an full understanding of the concept
MINORS:
Minors are daily grades that affect the student's overall average.
Minors are not eligible for reassessment.
DP Cognos: This is an email alert sent to the student and student's parent/guardian automatically via HAC anytime a grade is entered 69% or below, or a formative grade of 0-1. Assignments that are entered as missing "MSG" are also automatically alerted via HAC. These emails usually show up in the subject line as "DP Cognos".
