Ms. Randolph Wins Teacher of the Month After Eight Years of Dedication

DENTON, TX – After nearly eight years of unwavering dedication, Ms. Kim Randolph, an EXPO teacher at Bettye Myers Middle School, has finally been named Teacher of the Month. The long-overdue recognition celebrates her commitment to student success, innovative teaching methods, and positive impact on the school community.
Ms. Randolph, who has been a pillar of the Bettye Myers faculty since 2016, was surprised when she discovered she'd won in the monthly newsletter. “It’s about time,” said Avery LeBlanc, a colleague and friend. “Ms. Randolph has been a role model for both students and staff, and I am thrilled she's finally getting the recognition she deserves.”
Known for her engaging lessons and tireless support of her students, Ms. Randolph has long been a favorite among EXPO students. “She makes learning fun and relevant,” said 8th grade student Jackson Strittmatter. “Even when we were studying dystopian novels, she found a way to connect the stories to real-life situations that made us think.”
Beyond the classroom, Ms. Randolph acts as chapter advisor for National Junior Honor Society, coaches Academic UIL, sponsors Minecraft Club, serves as Team Lead, is a member of the campus Guiding Coalition, mentors new teachers, and serves as Booster President of the Ryan Raider Band. Colleagues describe her as a dedicated educator who goes above and beyond to ensure students feel heard and inspired.
“I’m honored,” Ms. Randolph said. “Teaching is my passion, and I work incredibly hard to craft experiences for my students that will be meaningful and give them an opportunity to use critical thinking and creativity. Seeing them grow, learn, and find their voices, of course, is the best reward. But this recognition? I finally feel validated.”
The Teacher of the Month award solidifies Ms. Randolph’s reputation as a beloved and invaluable member of the Bettye Myers Middle School family. For now, Ms. Randolph will enjoy her well-earned moment in the spotlight, continuing to do what she does best—shaping young minds and inspiring future generations.
Band, Choir, and Orchestra Earn Sweepstakes Awards at UIL Contest

The Sweepstakes award, the highest honor at the competition, is given to groups that receive top ratings from judges in both concert performance and sightreading. Myers' ensembles impressed the judges with their skillful performances, demonstrating outstanding musicianship and dedication.
The UIL Concert & Sightreading Contest challenges student musicians not only to prepare polished concert pieces but also to perform an unfamiliar piece at sight, testing their ability to read and interpret music on the spot. One Act Play Advances to District, Earns Individual Honors

Shady Shores, TX — After an impressive performance at the zone-level One Act Play competition, Bettye Myers Middle School’s theater students advanced to the district contest, showcasing their talent and dedication on stage. After a long day of competition, several students earned individual honors for their outstanding contributions.
The cast and crew’s production of Once Upon a Playground impressed judges with its compelling storytelling and strong stage presence. In recognition of their exceptional performances, Oliver Knight was named to the All-Star Cast while Eleanor Frerich received an Honorable Mention All-Star Cast award. Behind the scenes, Dawson Payne was among those awarded Best Technician, highlighting the crucial role of technical excellence in the production’s success.
“We’ve worked so hard bringing this play to life,” said cast member Leah Pineda. “Making it to District was an incredible experience .”
