Students were given a challenge to use an already existing product-such as an empty water bottle and question themselves on how they could Substitute,Combine, Adapt,Modify, Put to another use, Eliminate, or Reverse the product to improve or create a new product. Here Miranda modified her water bottle to create a new product that would hold markers and a treat.
Teachers also took the challenge to provide students with examples! Convenience, special occasions, and products to support a cause were some products created.
Each week students used the SCAMPER challenge to step outside of the box and share how they could design, or modify different items to a new purpose. Students then developed their own challenges for other students each week!
