) Be Responsible - We will try, giving our best effort to the task at hand. Creativity is something innate to all humans. If you are human, you are creative. As we try, we grow our abilities to express our creativity.
) Be Respectful - We will treat others with respect. We will treat others as we would like to be treated. To foster a creative and open environment we will respect the person, work, ideas, and space of those around us.
) Be Safe - We will be mindful of our community. Our space, tools, and materials are shared. To maintain our creative community we must maintain these things. We will care for and clean these things when we use them.
Some Examples of these rules in practice:
• Disturbing and/or distracting others during the class period may be a violation of Rules 1, 2, & 3. We are all here to work.
• Throwing things in the a violation of Rules 1, 2, & 3. We are all here to work.
• Students must turn in work by or ahead of given deadlines. Meeting deadlines shows that you are giving your best effort. (Rule 1) Time and the final product are both considerations that should be made in regard to the work you do.
• Bring all work, projects, materials, sources and any other relevant supplies to class every day. Being prepared is part of both Rules 1 and 3.
• Students will clean up before leaving the classroom. (Rules 2 & 3)
• Students are expected to pay attention and participate in class activities and discussions. (This hits Rules 1, 2, & 3)
• Students are not permitted to sleep in class. If you are sleeping you are not giving your best effort as per Rule 1.
• If students are late, they must come with a pass. This is a part of the rules of the BMMS community. (Rule 3)
• No food is allowed in the classroom. (Rule 3 again)
• Cell Phones are not allowed in the classroom. This is now a state law. (Rules 1 & 3)
