Emergent bilingual students in grades 2-12 with the most significant cognitive disabilities, and therefore cannot participate in the general TELPAS assessment, are given the TELPAS Alternate each spring to assess their progress in becoming proficient in the use of academic English. Students are assessed in four domains: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.

Students in Grades 2-12:

  • Teachers will holistically rate their EL students in the areas of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.

  • Students have a variety of response modes that can be used to demonstrate their level of proficiency within each domain.
