Financial Aid

There are three important things to remember about applying for financial aid:

  • You only have to complete one financial aid application (either the FAFSA or the TASFA) each year to receive aid.

  • You will work with the financial aid offices at the colleges you apply to receive financial aid offers.

  • The earlier you submit your forms, the higher your chances are of receiving a strong financial aid package.

Types of Financial Aid

Some aid is based on financial need and some is based on academic performance. Not all colleges and universities participate in all programs, but the more you know about financial aid, the better prepared you’ll be.

Basic financial aid packages consist of:

  • Scholarships--may need to submit additional applications

  • Grants

  • Loans

  • Work study
