Fellows and Mentors who are flying to SKAIDS 2023 should fly into either Greenville-Spartanburg (GSP) or Charlotte (CLT) to attend. One bus will be scheduled to bring participants from each airport to and from SKAIDS. Those driving will have parking is available free. The Outdoor Lab is located at: 415 Charlie White Trail, Pendleton, SC 29670
Check-in will be available beginning at 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 4th.
SKAIDS 2023 will begin with dinner at 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 4th.
We will end our time together at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 9th.
Note that this schedule has a little wiggle room, but below is the general plan for the week. Details about some of the speakers and activities can be found on the About Clemson + Related Topics page. Note that activities in green will often be optional and there will be indoor activities available.
The program is linked here and can also be found in your Mentor & Fellow Group Documents folder.
June in Clemson can be a little unpredictable in terms of just how cold or how hot it will be, so keep that in mind as you pack. For an idea of what to expect, here is a link to the weather records from June 2022. However, something that is not listed there is the humidity or how 'muggy' it feels here in June -- this page might provide more specific information (scroll down), but be ready for humidity to be in the 80-90% range. Since this is "Camp Abell", we will be taking a laid back approach to dress - you will have one dinner opportunity off-site for which you may want a dressy-casual or casual outfit - otherwise, please feel free to be in outdoor, workout, or play clothes the whole week.
You will be provided with a linen package that will include: sheets, a blanket, a pillow, and towels. However, if you have room and would like to bring your own pillow or swim towel, you are welcome to do so.
Comfortable clothes for working, playing, and sleeping -- be sure to have at least one long-sleeved shirt and one pair of long pants
Sweater or jacket
Insect repellent (we will provide some)
Computer + charger
Bathing suit
Toiletries
Sunscreen
Writing utensils/notebooks
Cell phone charger
Rain Coat (we will provide umbrellas)
2 pairs of shoes (suitable for hiking and walking)
Flip-flops/water shoes
Relevant books or materials
One workout outfit you are okay getting dirty and/or having goats walk on
Optional items: camping hammock, swim towel, your own pillow, a favorite card game, journal
Fellows will be in cabins of five. Each Fellow will have an 'alcove' space of their own (with two twin beds and two nightstands) and share a bathroom with their cabin-mates. The layout of the cabins can be seen here. Cabin assignments are below.
