Mentors are a critical component of SKAIDS. They provide support for the next generation of scholars and SKAIDS also provides opportunities for one's own professional networking. As part of SKAIDS 2023, mentors will work closely with three assigned fellows, partner with another mentor/fellow group at times, facilitate critical friend groups, and attend and co-facilitate workshops. There will also be time to interact socially with other mentors and fellows, tour Clemson, and take advantage of the beautiful outdoors.
Following SKAIDS, mentors may choose to interact and support their fellows as they prepare for the SKAIDS Poster Session. It is hoped that mentors will also attend the SKAIDS Poster Session at the 2024 NARST Annual Conference. Mentors are expected to bring academic expertise, knowledge of academia, and a willingness to support students as they navigate the end of their doctoral process.
