Below are some recommended actions to test for connectivity from a remote work site. This is not an exhaustive list, but a starting point to ensure connectivity away from the office.

  • Connect to the VPN (Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client).

    1. If you do not have the VPN client, download it here: http://cuvpn.clemson.edu/

    2. This will require Duo two-factor authentication installed. If you have not set this up please visit this site: https://ccit.clemson.edu/cybersecurity/how-to/duo-authentication/

  • Forward your phone from home (http://phone.clemson.edu/) - IP Phones only

    1. Try by calling your office number and leaving yourself a voicemail.

    2. Ensure that the voicemail ends up in your email.

  • Verify that you can access your files remotely. An easy way to access files stored in Box is via Box Drive.

    1. Box Drive can be downloaded from here: https://www.box.com/resources/downloads/drive

    2. If your department does not use box, make sure you can access your files remotely. If not contact your local IT support for recommendations of where to store files.

    3. Check to see how many files are stored on your local hard drive or other storage. Consider a plan to begin moving it to cloud based storage.

    4. Review Clemson's Cloud storage options and recommendations here: https://www.clemson.edu/online/tools/cloud-storage.html

  • Sign up for a Zoom Account (https://clemson.zoom.us/) from Clemson Online.

    1. Currently accounts created here are basic accounts limited to meetings of 40 minutes or less. In the event of a large-scale disruption where Academic Continuity plans are put into action, licensed Zoom accounts would be available for all faculty and staff to finish the semester.

  • Run the Clemson Speed Test connected to and disconnected from the VPN (http://net-test.clemson.edu/)

    1. Make sure your connection speed is accurate based on what you pay for at home and suitable for the work you plan to do remotely.

  • If you are using any collaboration software, try sending a direct message to another coworker.

    1. Microsoft Teams (https://teams.microsoft.com) is included with Clemson's Office 365 subscription and a good resource for sending direct text messages to anyone at Clemson University.

  • Connect to the WebEx test meeting room - https://www.webex.com/test-meeting.html

    1. Make sure you can share your camera and audio.

    2. Try to share your screen and content.

    3. Once you verify you can connect, try scheduling a WebEx test meeting with a co-worker.

  • Connect to Canvas - https://clemson.instructure.com/

  • Connect to Kronos - https://clemson.kronos.net/

  • Connect to the Clemson Library Site - https://libraries.clemson.edu/

    1. Confirm you can connect to any journals you access on a regular basis
