Pulse rate is how many times your heart beats in a minute. This is also known as heart rate level of consciousness or new onset confusion - an acute change in a service user’s level of consciousness can be alarming and is often an important indicator of acute illness and a sign of deterioration that requires urgent clinical assessment.
