The National Early Warning Score (NEWS2) is a system for scoring the physiological measurements that are routinely recorded at the patient's bedside. Its purpose is to identify acutely ill patients, including those with sepsis, in hospitals in England. It is also now applied to service users in domiciliary care to indicate what treatment they might need. Digital tools and diagnostics produce a NEWS2 Score, by taking measurements on the NEWS2 scoring system:
respiration rate
oxygen saturation
systolic blood pressure
pulse rate
level of consciousness or new confusion
Temperature.
