Inclement Weather Policy

Our philosophy is one that soccer is a game that can be played in all kinds of weather (see video of USA Men’s team vs. Costa Rica in snow storm).  Therefore, our policy is one that, unless we feel like it would be dangerous to the players and parents (i.e. lightning, very slippery fields, etc.) or detrimental to the conditions of the playing fields, we will nearly always choose to let the kids play, no matter the weather conditions. And, as a general rule, we will only communicate when fields are closed or games are canceled. Meaning, that if you do not explicitly hear or read from an official source that a game been cancelled, you can pretty much guarantee that the game is on. :-)

There are several ways to receive information about game cancellations due to inclement weather (or other reasons):

1. The FYSA website (www.fysaforce.org), and the RainedOut field status text application on the website (green section at bottom left of home page). Here you can sign up to get text messages on your phone about field closures as soon as they happen.

2. FYSA has both a Facebook and Twitter account (links on the website), and you can sign up for either one of those.

3. Your coach/manager should get some advanced notice of cancellations and they should contact you as well.

So, unless you hear a game is cancelled from one of these sources, you can bet the game is still on. It should also be noted that because we lean strongly toward trying to play, there may be times where we may not cancel games until the very last minute or until after a game has started (generally called by the referee). We appreciate your patience and hope you can have fun in the rain too! :-)
