These are the actors and actresses who participated in our first play this year, Bad Auditions... On Camera.
Andrea Sanders is thrilled to be playing the Casting Director in this years unique drama production. This show has definitely brought some new challenges into acting and many different circumstances however, it has been so much fun to work with these challenges. It has been a very different and fun experience. This is her ninth performance with the BFA Dramatic Arts Ensemble. Some of her past and favorite roles include Jane Porter in Tarzan the Musical, Red in The Yellow Boat, and Geo Jackson in Lafayette No. 1. When she is not acting, her favorite past times include singing, playing piano, and writing. She would like to thank her closest friends and family for always being there to support her. She hopes you enjoy this new style of production and have a little laugh during these tough times.
This year, Wyeth Haddock is playing Roger in Bad Auditions Caught on Camera. He has had a lot of fun playing with his character, especially considering that it has all been virtual. While this has all been a bit challenging and confusing on zoom, he has found that it’s nothing he can’t handle. Wyeth has participated in theatre since elementary school, most recently portraying Lord Pinkleton in Cinderella, Eddie in the Yellow Boat, Daddy Warbucks in Annie, and Julien Poydras in Lafayette No. 1. In his free time, Wyeth likes to run and bike, do schoolwork, and eat soup. He would like to thank the producers and directors who have made this challenging show possible. Wyeth would also like to thank you for tuning in to the show!
Alaina is extremely excited to be playing the role of the frazzled mother Gina Marie in this year’s virtual production of Bad Auditions On Camera. A virtual show is very different from what the drama club is used to doing, but Alaina loves the challenge and is glad that she and the rest of the dramatic arts ensemble can still perform. She has been in many past productions, portraying an ape in Tarzan, a townsperson in Cinderella, and Mrs. Pugh, Oliver Warbucks’ chef in Annie. She also participated in elementary drama. Alaina’s hobbies outside of drama include dance, singing in chorus, playing her flute in band, spending time outside, and reading for hours on end. She would like to thank her family, friends, and directors for always supporting her and pushing her to be the best actress she can be. She is looking forward to this year’s production, and hopes you enjoy the show!
The most challenging part has been working over Zoom, everything from lighting to poor connections to projecting the character through a screen. The most enjoyable part has been working with the rest of the cast and crew, even though we can’t be in person, it’s been great to be able to have something for drama this year. Land (aka Skippy) has previously participated in the production of Annie in 2019, playing the role of Drake, the butler. He enjoys snowboarding, acting, playing music, singing and spending time with friends, family and cats. He would like to thank everyone who helped make this show possible.
Julia Thibault is going to be playing the role of Tandy. She loves doing anything with theater and so far this has been really fun for her. The past shows Julia has been a part of are Marry Poppins, Tarzan, Cinderella, and Annie. Her interests are hanging out with family and friends, and doing art and crafts. Julia also loves listening to music and musicals.
Adrienne Antonovich is playing the character Carmen in the play this year. She loves that we can still do drama during coronavirus although it has been hard to do it. She has been part of two 4th and 5th grade plays as Hilda in Hoka Poka, and Mrs. Newton in Kid Frankenstein. She also was in Annie as one of the lead orphan Kate. Things Adreinne really enjoys doing in her free time is art, ice skating and, of course, drama.
Nicholas 'Nic' Torraca is playing the part of Greg in Bad Auditions... On Camera. Nicholas has enjoyed the funny positions that Greg’s camera is in. He has been a part of the past musical productions of Annie and Cinderella. One of his interests is DND.
Magdelina (Maggie) is in 7th grade and is very excited to be playing the part of Wendy Spellane in Bad Auditions...On Camera! She has been in 2 productions at Fletcher Elementary School as Mulan in The Legend Of Mulan, and Billy Bones and Crooked Arrow in Treasure Island. In her free time she enjoys hiking, biking, cooking, hunting, playing basketball, painting, drawing, and hanging out with friends and family. She would like to thank her family for encouraging her to audition!
Isabel Docheff will be playing Phyllis. One of her favorite things about this show was working with the other actors to create a funny, engaging performance. Isabel has been in the elementary school plays Hansel and Gretel as the Fairy Frogmother, and Once Upon A Remote Control as Lady-in-Waiting 4. She likes to read, do puzzles, play softball, and make music with her family. She also loves the Beatles! Isabel would like to thank her parents, brother, and aunt for helping her prepare for the show.
Finn Benedict is very excited to be playing Rory the Chicken Man. He likes being the Chicken Man! He is weird, a man with a chicken suit is weird; it fits him! In the past, he has been a part of the 3rd and 4th grade drama program. He enjoys video games, drawing, reading, and lacrosse. Shout out to Payton, Finn is so glad that he is back at BFA.
Laurel Coleman is very excited to have the role of Karen Buckman in Bad Auditions On Camera. This is her seventh BFA Dramatic Arts Ensemble production. In the past, she has had ensemble and small named roles in Mary Poppins, Tarzan, Cinderella, The Yellow Boat, and Annie, and she helped with sound for Lafayette Number One. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, playing guitar and saxophone, knitting, and hanging out with friends. While this year has been weird, and doing a play over Zoom can have its difficulties, Laurel is just grateful for the opportunity to do a show. She would like to thank her family, especially her sister Lily, for encouraging her to take part in theater. She hopes you enjoy the show!
Jasmine is very excited to be a part of Bad Auditions! She portrays the character Uma in this play, “Faking a breakdown is both enjoyable and hard, but it’s very fun!”. She has been in many BFA Fairfax drama productions such as Cinderella, The Yellow Boat and Annie.
A big thank you to my friends Avery, Melissa, Laurel and Gen along with my boyfriend Jack for pushing me to get this role. It means a lot :)
Quincy is a 10th grade Homeschooled student. She’s excited to be writing and playing the role of Rowan in this production of Bad Auditions Caught On Camera. Quincy loves to sing, play her various instruments and compose music. She enjoys spending time in the woods or up a tree, trains at a karate dojo, likes weaving, carving and other handcrafts and is working to become an Eagle Scout. Quincy is very glad that we’re able to have drama virtually and is looking forward to when we can act in-person. She played Lt. Ward in Annie last year. Quincy would like to thank her brother, Land, for driving her to and from the school, and Mrs. Maynard for keeping her involved in chorus and drama this year.
Maddie Slocombe is playing the character Mya Scott. What she really enjoyed about doing this show was that she got to write her own script because there weren’t enough initial characters but it was fun because she got to be creative. Shows that she's been involved in in the past are Shrek, Mary Poppins, Tarzan, Cinderella, Anne, and The Yellow Boat. Some things that she likes are snowboarding, anime, music, spending time with her dog, taekwondo, and videogames. To her dog: Hi Sophie! Thank you for being my best friend! This year was interesting because typically for one acts like these she would be the lights person but she gets to be an actor this year which is really fun.
Madison is thrilled to be playing the part of Elizabeth. She enjoys the opportunity to continue performing, even though it is on a camera rather than a stage. In the past, Madison has played the strong women in Cinderella, Eddie's mother in The Yellow Boat, and Catherine Blake in Lafayette No 1. Madison also participated in the musical Annie, playing the alto saxophone in the pit band. She is an all state level saxophone player and has been playing the alto saxophone for 7 years now. Madison would like to thank her Mom for always driving her an hour for saxophone lessons every week, and her grandparents for all they do for her. Madison would also like to thank her sister for always being brutally honest and making her the person she is today.
These are the directors who helped out with our first play of the year, Bad Auditions... On Camera.
Julie has been involved in the dramatic arts program at BFA since her youngest daughter (then in 4th grade) desired a venue to perform. The Elementary Drama Club was born and has been hugely popular with elementary students for over 15 years. Moving on from directing the elementary drama club, she then stepped into the shoes as director for the last 10 fall musicals. Although she shares in the disappointment that a musical (Mamma Mia!) could not occur this year, she is very happy that the students who are passionate about drama are getting the chance to connect and perform in some way. She remains in awe at the natural theatrical talent that the students bring to the stage/screen and is honored to be a part of a program that is able to give them the chance to learn and grow and shine.
Sara Villeneuve (aka Ville) is a member of the director team. It has been really exciting to see the creativity of our students and teachers. People have really risen to the challenge and proved to be resilient and creative. She is excited by the energy and enthusiasm of the students. She has been directing one act performances at BFA Fairfax for almost 20 years as well as fall productions before the school started musicals. As a student at BFA Fairfax, she also was in a variety of shows. She loves having students write, direct, and produce the shows in collaboration with the directorial team. Spending time with family and friends is what she looks forward to the most. She loves warm Vermont summers and spending time outside together. Sara loves to travel and see the world. Huge shout out to her family; Craig, Anna and Camden for their willingness to support rehearsal nights and keep the show running at home. Also to all of the students and her colleagues for supporting the arts at BFA Fairfax.
Christy grew up in a small town in Western New York and was raised in a musical family. Her parents had a Rock/Country/ Bluegrass band and they practiced at her home every Wednesday night. It was the highlight of the week for her and soon she was playing the violin and singing. Christy majored in music education/voice at SUNY Fredonia where she had the privilege to sing with the Fredonia Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Donald Lang. While singing with the Chamber Singers, Christy had the opportunity to travel around New York State as well as England, Scotland, and Wales performing concerts at schools, churches, and cathedrals. Christy has taught music in Florida and Vermont. Some of her responsibilities now include teaching Middle and High School Choruses, General Music, taking students to district and all state music festivals, and preparing the singers for the musical. Christy would like to thank the other drama teachers for the new opportunity to work on a play.
Alana Torraca, or Madame Alana has been involved in helping out with coffee houses for the last few years but this is her first time as a director and she is very grateful to Ms. Filiberti, Ms. Villeneuve, and Ms. Maynard for letting her join the team. She has particularly enjoyed watching students grow into their characters week after week, and has been impressed by their dedication to make art happen no matter what. When she isn’t teaching French or helping out with the dramatic arts ensemble, she can be found taiko drumming, walking her dog, or cooking and baking. Her dream role would be to play Puck in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.
These are the techies and 'backstage' hands who helped out with our first play of the year, Bad Auditions... On Camera.
Madeline King has assumed the role of technical director for this year’s first drama production, organizing the behind-the-scenes parts of the show and picking up any jobs that may arise. She has liked the new challenges and things that need to be done to make the performance work out in a digital format, although she does miss pushing huge wooden set pieces around the small and cluttered stage. Madeline has helped out backstage with the musicals Mary Poppins, Tarzan, Cinderella, and Annie; and the one act play Lafayette No. 1. In her little free time, she enjoys playing soccer, playing musical instruments, reading, writing, and dreaming of being the next showrunner of Doctor Who. She would like to thank everyone who has helped keep drama going during this wonky year, and she would like to thank her friends and family for everything they've done to help her get to where she is now!
Christopher is the cinematography director of Bad Auditions. Something that has made this show challenging is that we can't see one another in person. However, it makes it a lot easier to edit and record because he can do it all on 1 device. A few past shows Christopher has been a part of were The Wizard of Oz, and Shakespeare in Hollywood. He is not only an editor and videographer, but also an actor. Christopher chose to take a break from acting and just do cinematography this year. He will also try pretty much any sport.
