Drama 1 provides students with a basic background in theatrical principles, with emphasis on stage voice and movement, theater history, scene and monologue work, pantomime, improvisation, acting technique, and stage terminology. Students will apply newly acquired principles in the production of an assigned play. Outside rehearsals maybe required second semester as well night performances.

Prerequisite Recommendation: C or better in Drama 1.
This class is designed as a continuation of Drama 1 for students who wish to study various acting styles and design techniques. There will be a strong emphasis on classical and/or improvisation styles, monologues, and scene performance, as well as play writing. Students will study theatrical make-up, theater styles, advanced theater techniques, and memorization. The class will produce and perform a play.

Students audition for a part in a school play or musical and go through the process of putting on a production from beginning to end. Students will study acting techniques to develop their characters, memorize lines, learning blocking, and perform in front of an audience. Outside rehearsals and performances are required.

This class is designed as a companion class to the theatre courses being offered and is for students who wish to learn various backstage and technical theatre skills. Students will be taken through the process of researching, planning, creating, and implementing all that is needed behind the scenes for a production throughout the term. The culminating project for the class will be to provide the technical theatre elements for the school plays.
