Ceramics 1 is a survey course that introduces students to the many facets involved in the production of clayware and objects. The skills taught in the production of clayware are the pinch, coil, and slab handbuilding techniques. Other skills taught are the de-airing of clay, use of specific tools used on the potter’s wheel and tools used to sculpt the clay and glazing techniques. Students will gain an understanding of the different firing temperatures and stages of firing will be explained and demonstrated.

Ceramics 2 is a specialized course where you will further develop your hand building skills, as well as gain an understanding of wheel throwing and techniques. This is a hands-on class with both teacher-led instruction and independent studio time, where you will explore the vast topic of ceramics through different techniques, materials, glazes, and decorative methods.
Mrs. Servanda
Sculpture/Ceramics is a studio (hands on) course for 9th through 12th grades. It is designed around projects involving the principles and elements of Art. In this class students will enjoy creating paper mache, mix media, cardboard, plaster and ceramic sculptures. The course is designed to give the students a basic understanding of these areas and to provide enough experience to build a foundation so they may continue on the more advanced levels of study.
