Please note that if you choose to participate in a sport, you are obligated to finish the season with that sport. Therefore, you cannot participate in a new sport until the season of your prior sport is completed. For example, if a student is playing a fall sport, but decides that they no longer want to play and try out for a winter sport, that student is not allowed to participate in any winter sport activity (conditioning, open field/gym, weight training, etc) until the completion of the fall sport season. The same can be said for winter sports going onto spring sports. All AHS student-athletes have agreed to this rule when he/she agreed to the Athletic Code.
Things to note:
You must register on Arbiter Registration for the next sport you wish to participate in while the registration window is open. If you miss the deadline, the registration will not be opened back up.
You will be given a tryout for the next sport at the conclusion of your current season. However, this guarantee is only good for the first day you are eligible to try out. If you choose to take a few days off between sports, you are no longer guaranteed that tryout.
It also might be a good idea to contact the next season's sport coach to inform him/her of your intent to try out following your current season so that they know to expect you.
If you have any questions regarding this rule, please see Mr. Oviatt or Mr Fornwald for more details.

WINTER Sports: Use Fall Semester grades - 1ST semester
SPRING Sports: Use April Grades - 3RD quarter
Please be aware that we will not be saving physicals from year to year, so you will need to submit evidence or copy of a physical each new school year. We realize that some insurance carriers will not provide a physical exam each year, so the doctor's office will still need to sign off with a current date on the clearance form for you to turn in.
Also, when you submit them, please make sure that you have the doctor's signature and office stamp (MD or DO only - We will not accept a chiropractic, or DC, physical examination).
The signature form needs to be submitted with this form after you and your parent/guardian have signed it.
The criteria for earning a letter may vary from sport to sport because of the different characteristics of each program. Each varsity head coach will be permitted to determine the criteria necessary for earning team awards and will need to make athletes aware of any specific criteria at the beginning of the season. Letterman jackets are purchased independently from the school.
American High School has a process for the distribution of varsity letters and other jacket items. Student athletes must have an ASB sticker in order to receive their letterman jacket items. All athletes regardless of level will receive a certificate of participation. Only first time varsity athletes will receive a block letter, graduation numbers, and a sport insert. Returning varsity athletes will receive an additional insert for the jacket.
