As educators, you are definitely experienced at writing goals for student learning! You have all heard of and probably apply SMART goals to your own teaching. That said, do you have your own professional goals (besides making it to retirement!)? Are you comfortable with helping a new teacher set measurable and achievable goals to improve their own practice?
In addition to writing professional goals, the induction candidates will be writing ABCD objectives for themself and their learners. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the difference between these as well.
As you know if you watched the program orientation and ILP project introduction, a large part of the Teacher Induction Program at CSUF is setting goals.
This module will take approximately 30 minute to complete.

PROFESSIONAL GOAL SETTING FOR TEACHING is a short read to guide educators in setting their own professional goals. Of particular relevance to our Induction candidates, I like the recommendation of talking to students about the goals one sets for themself. This is great for working with new teachers who can reflect on their own goals but also their students goals.

This 12 minute video does a nice job of helping the viewer understand the importance of setting goals that can actually be met (AKA SMART goals). It gives some great examples too. Note that they are not all education related but some great connections can be made when we use examples of things we are more familiar with such as health and wealth ;-)

Goals are broad- I will make dinner more regularly. The key word is WILL (it's what we will do)
Objectives are specific and remind us that HOW we meet the objective can vary. The key phrase is WILL BE ABLE TO and we use ABCD (audience, behavior, condition, degree). By using recipes from the Internet (C), I will be able to make (B) at least one (D) home cooked meal per week (B). This shows what I will be able to do - forever and not what I am doing right now.
