CARING FOR YOUR INSTRUMENT 

Always:

• Avoid leaving your instrument out of its case for too long if not playing

• Avoid leaving your instrument in the sun

• Never leave your instrument in a hot car

• Never leave your instrument directly next to a heater

• Avoid leaving your instrument in close vicinty to small children or pets

• Be careful when setting your instrument down - make sure it's on a safe surface

• Your instrument is always safest in it's case

Daily: 

• Tune 

• Apply rosin (if playing daily)

  • If only playing a couple times a week, you may only need to rosin a few times per week rather than daily

• Wipe rosin off of your strings and instrument after playing. Use a clean, dry cloth

• Loosen your bow after you finish playing. Never leave it tight. 

• Keep your instrument inside its case when not playing 

Semi-regularly:

• Bow rehair (every year - two years)

• Replace strings (every year - two years)

• Take instrument in to get checked & cleaned (every few years)

• Fingerboard replane (every 10 years or so)
