• We currently have two orchestras, String Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra

• Chamber Orchestra enrollment is based on auditions. 

• Chamber Orchestra currently meets first period

• String Orchestra enrollment is open to everyone - no student will be denied 

• String Orchestra currently meets second period 

• CHS Orchestras currently meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays

• Both groups will have concerts/performances after school and opportunities for trips/travel

• Beginner students with no prior music or bowed string instrument experience ARE welcome :)

Students in Chamber Orchestra should be able to play three octave scales, shift to high positions comfortably, and vibrate comfortably. Additionally, students should be comfortable sight-reading. Viola students should be able to read and play both Alto and Tenor clef. Cello students should be able to play tenor clef, and potentially learning treble clef. 

Due to the fact that our program is growing (yay!), I will be auditioning ALL students for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. There will be two sets of audition requirements: one set of audition materials for students wishing to audition for the Chamber Orchestra, and another set of audition materials for students wishing to be in string. Absolutely NO students will be denied, ALL interested students will be accepted into one of our orchestras. 

Format: Video auditions will be recorded and submitted digitally via email/Google Drive. BOTH hands and your contact point should be visible in the video. All violin and viola students should record their videos standing up, not sitting. 

Due date: Auditions should be submitted by Sunday, March 8th @ 11:59pm.
