This event has concluded. Thank you to everyone who helped make it a success.

In this session we will discuss why and how we use science fiction to teach computer ethics.
In this session you will learn about the CSAwesome (Java) community-driven curriculum project and how to leverage the power of community-driven curriculum with Coding Rooms. Coding Rooms empowers educators with a platform that enables them to build their own teaching tools, freely design their content, and bring their teaching style to life!
AP Computer Science Principles introduces students to the foundational concepts of the field and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world. The latest research shows AP CSP can have a significant impact on all students, regardless of their post-secondary plans. In addition, AP CSP has expanded access to computer science education to students who were largely underrepresented, including minority and female students. Learn more about AP CSP, how this course differs from AP CSA, and how you can implement AP CSP and/or AP CSA in your school.
In this session, we will take a close look at the 8.1 standards, discuss K-2 curriculum connections, and investigate sample lesson plans you can implement in your classroom.
Mr. Jason Erdreich offers students a variety of opportunities to engage with computer science at the middle school level that span the traditional robotics platforms, to autonomous systems, app development, video game design, manufacturing, biotechnology, and more. Getting students excited about computer science starts by building opportunities for engagement and success, and through this session, Mr. Erdreich will be sharing the successes and failures of the K-12 Madison Computer Science program, as well as sharing numerous resources to take to your own makerspace!
