Bye Bye Birdie

When the draft selects rock star Conrad Birdie, his fans are devastated, but none more than struggling songwriter Albert Peterson, whose song Birdie was just about to record. Albert's longtime girlfriend, Rosie, pushes Albert to write a new tune that Birdie will perform on television to a fan selected in a contest. The scheme works, with young Ohio teenager Kim McAfee declared the winner, but no one has counted on the jealous wrath of her boyfriend.

Spring Showcase

The One-Act Play Disaster

Pulling off a heist is pretty tough. But that's nothing compared to pulling off an unauthorized adaptation of a popular heist movie onstage. Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong when you've got a light board operator out for revenge, a dollar-store set, and a cast that's a total mess. The smooth-talking con man has crippling stage fright, the acrobat is completely uncoordinated, and the understudy keeps reading all the stage directions out loud. Can the group survive a run-through? It might be a total disaster, but it will definitely be hilarious.

Bad Auditions by Bad Actors

A casting director has one day to find the leads for a community theater production of Romeo and Juliet. But what seems like a simple task proves impossible when the pool of actors includes extreme method actors, performers who just don't know what to do with their hands, and one particular woman who may or may not think she's a cat. This hilarious comedy will bring you to the last place you'd ever want to be...behind the doors of a casting session.

Juliet & this Guy Romeo

Two rival families are at war in Verona, Wisconsin. The adults argue about politics on Facebook all night long, while the teenagers aggressively hashtag each other all day. But when a pair of teens from the different families fall so crazy in love that they start speaking in iambic pentameter, it's a tragedy waiting to happen. This zany comedy skewers the online animosity between liberals and conservatives with a little help from Shakespeare.

2019 Summer Playathon

Students worked in teams to create an original 10-minute play. Each team, wrote, directed, rehearsed, staged the play over the course of two days. At the end of those two days they performed their plays for the public.
