TIPS FOR APPLYING
1.) If you are not a strong essay writer, please stop by my office to get help getting started! I love writing and am glad to help jump start your scholarship essay, no problem!
2.) Make sure you meet the GPA requirements: Some scholarships have no GPA requirement, some require a 2.0+, but most require you to have a 3.0+ cumulative GPA throughout high school. You can verify this through your Aeries account, click on your transcript!
3.) Ask for your letters of recommendation EARLY, and ask teachers or staff members who know you well and can speak on your behalf for your best traits, talents, and accomplishments. Ensure their letter is either on letterhead or signed for legitimacy. How to ask vs. how not to ask:
A.) How to ask: Hello Mrs. Walker, I loved my time being in your Chemistry class last year and learned a lot! I am emailing to ask if you would be willing to write me a letter of recommendation for the APIASF scholarship? Thank you for your time and consideration, have a great day!
B.) How not to ask: Hey Mrs. Walker, Do you want to write me a letter of rec??
4.) Type your application if your handwriting is not easy for most to read
5.) It is always nice to end your essays with something classy, atleast in my humble opinion. My go to is: thank you for your time and consideration!
