Please keep in mind that these are the minimum stated GPA requirements needed to apply for these colleges and universities. It is highly recommended that you do your best to exceed these minimums and research competitive GPA of students who were accepted the previous year into your schools of choice. You can type in: Class of 2024 Admitted Student Profile" to get a better idea of what it took for the admitted class before you to be admitted!
The University of California´s A-G website
It is recommended to start your applications early, and work on them weekly. Plan to submit your application at least 2 days before the specified application deadline, as both the UC and CSU application websites do crash the day applications are due each year on November 30th. This is due to an extreme number of students flooding the applicant portals, and it happens every year on November 30th.
Unlike the CSU and UC Systems in California, Out-of-State universities each have varying application deadlines and varying academic requirements a students must fulfill, entirely dependent on which state will be applying to. I suggest making a comprehensive list of any Out-of-State colleges in timeline format so that students can visualize upcoming deadlines.
The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a tuition savings program that makes attending out-of-state colleges and universities more affordable for students in the West. Through WUE, qualifying students receive a reduced out-of-state tuition rate, making college more affordable.

The Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are a comprehensive set of 50+ colleges and universities located in the Midwest and Southern United States. Each campus has its own set of academic requirements and own individual due dates. Some HBCUs may require a SAT or ACT score, while others do not. Please check the official websites of the colleges you are applying for to confirm.
The HBCUs have a convenient, affordable application portal to apply through, the Common Black College App, which has been in use for 20 years.
Through this application, you can apply for 60+ HBCUs for $20, and you rank your top 4 HBCUs in order of preference. Some examples of HBCUs available to apply for via the Common Black College App include Alabama State, Clark Atlanta, Grambling, Morgan State, and Bethune-Cookman University!
Throughout California, there are many private colleges and universities to which you may apply for, each with their own distinctive learning environment and academic offerings. Many of these Californian private colleges are a part of the AICCU, or Association of Independent California Colleges.
