Come on in, Learn Something New! **WEBSITE CURRENTLY UNDER REDESIGN, APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE**
As a board member, you will be a volunteer, involved in suggesting changes, planning events for the MakerSpace, and leading outreach efforts to engage the broader community, foster collaboration, and promote innovation.
For efficiency, The MakerSpace Board is split into committees. The amount of committees changes from time to time, but the three main committees are:
Operations: The Operations Committee oversees the daily functions of the MakerSpace, ensuring a smooth experience for both visitors and employees. They provide input on policies and overall operations to maintain an efficient and welcoming environment.
Equipment: The Equipment Committee is responsible for maintaining and improving the MakerSpace’s tools and machinery. They research potential new equipment, and provide recommendations to keep the space up-to-date and well maintained, with the best resources for creators and innovators.
Curriculum: The Curriculum Committee develops the belt system to teach users how to operate the MakerSpace equipment effectively. They write, test, and approve each belt as it is integrated into the project grid. Additionally, they ensure the community understands how the belt system works and its role in skill development.
You are more than welcome to be a member of multiple committees, as they often collaborate and rely on each other to implement the best changes. Just be mindful not to overextend yourself, ensuring you can contribute effectively to each committee.
General Meetings: The Board meets every Thursday from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM in order to discuss developments in the MakerSpace. This is typically when the different committees come together to collaborate, share updates, and align their efforts to ensure the space continues to operate smoothly and efficiently.
Committee Meetings: Each committee determines their own schedule for meetings, arranging times that work best for their members to discuss and plan specific tasks and initiatives for their committee.
Events: Meetings are held shortly before and after events to clarify the duties and responsibilities of the members involved, ensuring everyone is aligned and the event runs smoothly.
Speaking of events, the Board plans and hosts outreach events to engage the community, raise awareness about the MakerSpace, and foster connections with potential members and partner organizations.
