Dwight Dodd is the Lead Director of the Fort Stockton Middle School Band and also assists with the high school program. Prior to joining Fort Stockton, Mr. Dodd has taught middle school and high school band in both Tennessee and Texas for the past 35 years.
Mr. Dodd received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and attended the University of Tennessee at Martin.
It is his goal to make band a fun, safe rewarding place to be. He will work toward the students' learning to love music, and teach them to be life long consumers of music.
David Conger is the Assistant Middle School Director at Fort Stockton Middle School and Director of Percussion entering his sixth year of teaching. His past students include All-Region Band qualifiers, Texas State Solo and Ensemble Division 1 qualifiers, and marching/concert bands that haver earned UIL Superior ratings.
Mr. Conger received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and his Master of Arts in Music Education from Texas Woman's University, where he had many opportunities to perform in both large and small/chamber ensembles, and was able to present his research material at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) annual conference in 2018.
Dr. Kenneth McSperitt is the Director of Bands at Fort Stockton High School and also assists with the middle school band program.
Mr. Kennedy is the Associate Director at Fort Stockton High School and teaches a few beginner classes at Fort Stockton Middle School. A veteran band director of 30 years, Mr. Kennedy began his career in 1995 and spent his first ten years teaching in Oklahoma. After moving to Texas in 2005, Mr. Kennedy taught in Mabank where his varsity band was a state finalist in the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series, achieved many UIL sweepstakes as well as Best in Class awards. He has also taught in Frisco, and Gunter. His Gunter Middle School Band were 3 time top 5 state finalists in the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series. While on the Clark band staff he taught beginning low brass and conducted the non-varsity band. His non-varsity band was an annual UIL sweepstakes winner as well as Best in Class at Peak Music Festivals. While on staff at Clark, the Clark varsity band earned the 2014 CC TMEA Honor Band distinction and in 2017 won the Sudler Silver Cup award for best middle school band program in the country. Mr. Kennedy, with the Clark band staff, was a presenter at TMEA in 2015 and published in the September 2015 Southwestern Musician which outlined their philosophy of making band fun and instilling a love for music.
A Graduate of Oklahoma State University, Mr. Kennedy is a member of the Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Educators Association, National Federation of Musicians, International Trombone Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. As a trombonist, he has been a performer with the Carrollton Wind Symphony, the Prestonwood Orchestra, and most recently the Odessa Community Band. Mr. Kennedy has three children; Kaitlyn (French horn and also teaches band), Zachary (percussion and in the Marine Corps), and Rebecca (clarinet, color guard, and studying sports medicine at Texas State). In the summer months, he enjoys teaching and traveling with the Lone Star Ambassadors of Music, golfing, and getting out on the lake with his family.
