Career Planning
High school is a wonderful time to begin thinking about about potential future careers. Considering a career while in high school might seem intimidating! It is important to keep in mind that not everyone chooses and pursues a single career starting when they are a teenager, and that's okay too! We encourage you to start thinking about your personal strengths and interests as these can often drive high school course selection and help to figure out what post-high school track is best for you!
Career Exploration
Mass CIS is a career interest inventory that will show you careers related to your interests. It will give you the average salary for each career in Massachusetts, tell you how competitive the job market is, and suggest majors or areas of study to focus on.
O*Net is another career interest survey tool. It's run by the US Dept. of Labor and provides statistics for careers based on the national averages.
Indeed is one of the most popular on-line job search engines. Sometimes looking at what real jobs are available in the area where you want to live can give you an idea of what you might like to do. It’s also a way to learn about jobs that don’t typically come up in a career search, like being a medical scribe, a reentry caseworker, or a contract coordinator.
