Homework is scored using a 2-1-0 scale. Assignments complete and on time will earn 2 points (points are not deducted for mistakes- always try your best).
Late or incomplete work will earn 1 point (it is up to the student to show Mr. Miller or Mrs. Starke late assignments)
Missing assignments will result in 0 points.
Majority of the weekly homework assignments will be from our Bridges Home Connection workbook. Pages will remain in the workbook as an additional reference for the students and kept in the classroom when not being used.
Please DO NOT remove any pages from the workbooks.

10/7 After reviewing Partial Products, we formally got into division for the first time this year.
10/8 Our focus today will again be division. No HW assigned for Friday.
10/9 & 10/10 We are quickly finishing up our first math unit. Today and Friday we will continue to focus on division, especially what to do with remainders as well as working with ratio tables and problem solving. Reminder- No HW assigned.
10/13 & 10/14 We will be completing the Unit 1 pre-assessment as our review for Wednesday's Unit 1 test. HW- Home Connection p. 17 & 18, due Wednesday
10/15 Unit 1 Test. No HW assigned.
10/16 Some students are finishing their assessment, others are playing review games.
10/17 Today we Officially started unit two: + & - fractions. We began with equating money with fractions and decimals, similar to what we did with our September Calendar Corner.
10/20 I introduced a new Number Corner activity- Carrot weighing & predicting. We also reviewed fractions and mixed numbers. HW- Home Connection p. 21 & 22, due Wednesday. Unit 1 tests were returned today. After reviewing with your child, please sign the cover sheet and return both the test & cover sheet to school by Wednesday.
10/21 After weighing our carrots and working more with fractions, we learned a new game- Racing Clock Fractions.
10/22 We never got to the new game yesterday. We will learn how to play Racing Clock Fractions after we weigh our carrots and check HW. Next HW assignment- Home Connection p. 23 & 24, Due Friday.
10/23 Which model is the best to think about when working with fractions: clocks or money? That is our focus today.
10/24 Continued practicing adding and subtracting fractions.
10/27 After weighing our carrots and reviewing adding and subtracting fractions, the students completed their first graded work sample for unit 2.
No HW assigned.
10/28 Today we focused on multiplying a fraction X a whole number.
10/29 Nothing new today- continued working with fractions. HW- Home Connection p. 27 & 28. We did the challenge question today in class. DUE MONDAY!!
10/30 I will be introducing the concept of a 'Better Buy' today and completing our last October Calendar build...What will November's Calendar bring us?
10/31 HAPPY HALLOWEEN! No formal class, students will be competing in a Stem Challenge.
11/3 To prepare for Wednesday's graded Check Point, we practiced adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. No HW assigned.
11/5 We did our last weighing of our carrots and then created a double line graph. This allowed us to compare the different rates of decline in the masses of the two carrots. We then completed a fraction checkpoint. Have a great long weekend!
11/10 Our focus today was working with ratio tables. HW- Home Connection p. 29 & 30. We will do the challenge question together on Wednesday.
11/11 We continued working with ratio tables and fractions and we also practiced creating line graphs.
11/12 State Field testing begins today so all core classes have been shortened.
Our next checkpoint will be started today. However, it will completed as a five-point graded classwork assignment. No HW assigned.
11/13 During our shortened class, we focused on equivalent fractions and fraction story problems. Unit 2 is quickly coming to an end. I expect to test prior to Thanksgiving Break.
