Homework is scored using a 2-1-0 scale. Assignments complete and on time will earn 2 points (points are not deducted for mistakes- always try your best).
Late or incomplete work will earn 1 point (it is up to the student to show Mr. Miller or Mrs. Starke late assignments)
Missing assignments will result in 0 points.
Majority of the weekly homework assignments will be from our Bridges Home Connection workbook. Pages will remain in the workbook as an additional reference for the students and kept in the classroom when not being used.
Please DO NOT remove any pages from the workbooks.

9/15 We introduced Brad's Baseball Shop to help us understand Volume. HW- Home Connection p. 3 & 4, Due Wednesday.
9/16 We continued working with numerical expressions (different ways to multiply) and practiced building rectangular prisms to find their volume.
9/17 After checking HW, we had our first graded checkpoint. Then we practiced evaluating expressions. HW- Home Connection p. 5 & 6, due Friday.
9/18 Our focus today was understanding area.
9/19 After checking HW, we started a class activity where partners had to determine the amount of cardboard needed (area) to make 5 different rectangular prisms (cardboard boxes).
9/22 We began class solving the next set of Calendar Cards, which focus on the relationships between time and money. Then we by discussed this weeks HW- Home connection p. 7 & 8, Due Wednesday (expressions are not solved, equations are solved). Challenge clue- #7a, 60 golf balls are left. How did they figure that out?
We then completed Friday's partner activity where they determined the AREA of 5 different rectangular prisms.
9/23 No school in recognition of Rosh Hashanah (If you celebrate Rosh Hashana, please have your HW, that is due Wednesday, turned in by the end of the week)
9/24 We learned a new game today- The Multiples Game. HW- Home Connection p. 9 & 10. Due Friday.
9/25 Today I introduced "Layer a Day", which is a quick 3 minute start of class reinforcing activity for Area and Volume. We then reviewed how we determine the area needed to create cardboard boxes. Followed by a graded work sample assignment (which is basically a Checkpoint).
9/26 After checking HW, we played a slightly more challenging version of the Multiple Game and then practiced finding factors and multiples.
9/29 Ratio Tables were introduced today- a concept that can be applied to many mathematical situations. HW- Home Connection p. 11 & 12. Due Wednesday.
9/30 We spent the entire class reviewing everything we have done so far in September.
10/1 After checking HW, we completed an Area & Volume Graded Checkpoint. HW- Home Connection p. 13 & 14. Due Friday. Challenge Clue- more than 20.
