ELA Homework: Read 20 minutes daily

2023- 2024 School year

May 21- Fantasy book clubs begin! Students will be given time to read in class, any reading that is unfinished will be completed for homework. **Book club calendars are available digitally in the student's digital Fantasy NB on the calendar pages. Pages are set by groups each day.

May 6- Students will finish their Nonfiction topic research in class on Tuesday. Research not done by Tuesday will need to be completed at home/Excel block. Nonfiction final projects are due May 15th (students will work on this in class until that date, anything not finished will be completed for homework/Excel).

April 15- "Peacock/Juno" HW, posted on ELA Google classroom due Friday, 4/19

March 27- word study test tomorrow, Thursday!- Block 1 students only

March 26- word study test tomorrow, Wednesday!- Block 3 students only

March 14- Nonfiction Garbage article, read and answer questions, posted on ELA Google Classroom, due 3/21

March 1- last day to revise and edit in class, finish story

February 22- Narrative rough draft must be finished by 2/27 (we will continue craft lessons and will revise/edit in class)

February 5- Word study: 1. glue words into word study NB  2. Word study test tomorrow

January 25- Home of the Brave HW: questions posted on ELA Google Classroom, due February 1st

January 8- MLK HW: read article from Wonderopolis, share on the Padlet (all materials are posted on a MLK Google slides on Google Classroom), HW is due on January 12th.

December 14- Compare and Contrast winter picture, posted on ELA Google classroom and a paper was given in class. Students have the choice how to complete this- on paper or digitally.** This assignment is due in class on December 20th.

December 12 & 13- book club projects are being worked on in class, projects are due on Thursday. If a project is not completed, students can finish it for homework. Presentations to the class begin on Thursday!

December- Read 20 minutes every night

November 1- Word study test on Thursday

October 11- ongoing 

Book clubs begin! Students will look at their calendar (located inside their book club envelope) to see what pages are being read. Students begin reading in school and will continue any unfinished reading at home. While reading, students are expected to stop and jot on post its. Students should be prepared to discuss the assigned pages and their jots with their group. 

**Book club schedule is posted here on this website, as well as on the students' ELA Google Classroom. 

Word study test tomorrow, 10/12. Students can practice sorting and spelling the review words given this week.
