In third grade, we use Bridges in Mathematics, a curriculum that helps students develop a deep understanding of math through hands-on activities, problem-solving, and meaningful discussions. Students are encouraged to think critically, explain their reasoning, and connect different strategies. Over the course of the year, they will build fluency with multiplication and division, explore fractions, and strengthen their understanding of geometry and measurement.
We also use a Math Workshop structure, which includes a balance of whole group, small group instruction, independent practice, and math games. This approach supports all learners by combining direct teaching, guided investigations, and opportunities for meaningful practice—helping every child grow as a confident mathematician. ➗✖️
