Blind contour line drawing is an exercise artists use to draw the edges of an object without looking at their paper. This activity strengthens your hand-eye coordination and increases your ability to draw realistically. The more you practice, the better you'll get!
Learn the basics with quick warm-ups! Relax while you learn how to hold your pencil, draw circles, shading skills, and more! Break up a page in your Visual Journal into 12 thumbnail boxes and try out each one!
Get comfy in the art room… you can sit on the floor if you want. Now, spend the class period trying to draw exactly what you see from where you are in the art room. You can pretend the people aren’t here - focus on the room itself.
Practice with a blind contour line drawing (see challenge 1) to focus your attention to contour lines.
