25-26 BOB Coach Meeting Slideshow
Please sign up for a Meeting Day:
25-26 BOB Meeting Sign-Up Genius
*You will have the room for the entire time listed.
*The recess/lunch timing makes it difficult to schedule a long enough meeting: Recess is 25 minutes, and lunch is 20 minutes. We don't like students to miss recess, but that may be the only option if you want to meet for more than 20 minutes.
Option 1 - Meet for approx. 40 minutes: Your BOB meeting can start at Recess Time (see schedule below), students leave to get Hot Lunch if needed, and return to meet for the remainder of Lunch Time. (Ideally, students eat Cold Lunch on the days you meet for BOB, but we cannot make that a requirement.)
Option 2 - Meet for 25 minutes during Recess only.
Option 3 - Meet for 20 minutes during Lunch only.
Recess/Lunch Schedule:
3rd Grade: Recess 11:30-11:55, SEND STUDENTS TO CAFETERIA AT 11:55 to be first in line, Lunch 12:00-12:20
4th Grade: Recess 12:15-12:40, SEND STUDENTS TO CAFETERIA AT 12:40 to be first in line, Lunch 12:45-1:05
5th Grade: Recess 12:00-12:25, SEND STUDENTS TO CAFETERIA at 12:25 to be first in line, Lunch 12:30-12:50
REMINDER: You must complete the Volunteer Orientation and Background check before meeting with students. The Volunteer Orientation is held every Tuesday at 8 AM. If that doesn't work with your schedule, PLEASE EMAIL ME and I will meet with you another time.
We would like all students to have one BOB book to read over Thanksgiving Break. All books will arrive on TUESDAY.
*If you have completed the Orientation and Background check, you may begin meeting this week and give each student one book.
*If you will start meeting after Thanksgiving Break, please email me, and I will help distribute books to students.

OVERVIEW OF FRONTIER BOB COMPETITION:
All students will sit with their teams at separate tables. The tables are close in proximity, so students should practice whispering when discussing their answers.
Students will have one whiteboard, two markers (one for backup), and one eraser. No other materials are allowed.
Each time must assign a student to be The SCRIBE who records the team answer on the whiteboard.
THE TEAM SCRIBE MUST BE THE SAME FOR THE ENTIRE ROUND BUT MAY CHANGE BETWEEN ROUNDS (this is new).
Score Recorders will sit between 2 tables and will record scores for 2 teams.
The Judge and Timer will sit at a table facing the teams.
The Judge will read the question and the time will start at the end of the question.
Students have 30 seconds to discuss the answer.
After 30 seconds the timer will announce "Time" and the Scribe MUST IMMEDIATELY START writing the answer on the whiteboard.
ONCE THE SCRIBE STARTS WRITING ALL TALKING MUST STOP. This is important.
The Scribe has as much time as they need (within reason) to write the OFFICIAL Title and Author on the whiteboard.
Once all teams have finished writing, the judge will say "Teams, please show your answer."
The Scribe will hold up the whiteboard to show the Score Recorder, who will record the team score.
Teams may earn 0, 3 (correct author), 5 (correct title), or 8 points (correct author and title). No partial points are given.
Minor spelling errors will be counted as correct.
The full title and author must be written to count as correct. No partial points are given.
If a book has 2 authors listed, both must be written to receive points. No partial points are given.
Please see Procedures for more details.
The District competition is 3 rounds of 8 questions each. The Frontier competition may have 2 OR 3 rounds of 8 questions each (TBD).
