I’m excited to welcome you and your child to fifth grade! My name is Dedreion Buckner, and I’ll be your child’s math teacher this year. Some of you may already know me from last year when I taught fourth-grade math right here at Shawnee Trail. It’s a joy to continue working with many of the same students and families. I’m proud to be part of a dedicated fifth-grade team alongside Katrina Sacurom and Julie Mansur. Please feel free to reach out at any time—I truly value strong communication between home and school.
I began my teaching career in Illinois in 2010 after working in the mathematics educational publishing industry. My husband and I relocated to Texas in 2017. My two children are proud graduates of Liberty High School in Frisco ISD. I’ve taught both fourth and fifth grade in a departmentalized setting, focusing on math and science. This year, I’m excited to continue my work as the fifth-grade math teacher, where I can focus fully on helping students deepen their mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills.
